Teach-In Sessions
Our programme of Teach-In evenings started in 2005. Several of our newer members were having problems, some with connecting their machines and ribbers together and others needing help with learning basic techniques. Because of the lack of adult education machine knitting classes available it was decided to book our club venue for an extra evening and match each “learner” with an experienced knitter for our first “Teach-In”.

This proved so successful that we organised 2 courses, each of 3 sessions during 2006. The latest course took those needing help through all the techniques needed to produce a child’s cardigan, i.e. - punching a card; ribbing; fair-isle; increasing; decreasing; and buttonholes etc. Some homework was required and everyone produced the garment. We were all delighted with the results.

These tutorial evenings have also been useful to established knitters needing help with a new gadget. They are matched again to someone who knows all the tips and pitfalls etc saving hours of hit and miss attempts of trying to learn from the instruction books alone.

So many tips are passed amongst the students, - how to clean and oil machines, check needles, adjust ribbers etc that they quickly gain the confidence needed to get going. It also is a great way of getting to know new members and assimilating them into the club.

We hope to have more teaching sessions for club members in 2007. See Calendar or Contact links on left for more information. New members are always welcome.
